Kashmir Independence
I believe that Kashmir should be independent. India and Pakistan are fighting over the territory of Kashmir. Their human rights are being violated in different ways, and there is no peace between India and Pakistan. I will be talking about why Kashmir should be independent.
First of all, the people of Kashmir want to be independent. A survey taken shows that 91% of Kashmir's population wants to be independent. They have been fighting for independence since 1989. An interview from NY times, proves that despite their opinions, Kashmir does not get a say in it. ¨´Both countries have gone to war over Kashmir. But Kashmiris have never had a voice in any of these disputes,” said Abdul Hakeem Kashmiri, a prominent journalist in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-held Kashmir.¨ People who want Kashmir to be independent are forbidden from the government. It is unfair that Kashmir does not get a say in what happens to them.
Secondly, Their human rights are being violated. According to scholars there has been killing, torture and many other horrible, unfair treatments done to the Kashmir people. Everyone should have the right to speak up, but Kashmirian protesters have been wounded and arrested for speaking up for independence. Everyone has the right for freedom.
In conclusion Kashmir should be independent for many reasons. They are not being treated fairly and should get a say in what happens. If Kashmir is free, neither India and Pakistan would get it and would stop fighting over it. So it would be a good solution. That is why I think Kashmir should be free.
I like how you talked about human rights
