Animal Shelters

Animal shelters need money for various reasons. They need money for food, water, crates, beds and medicine if the dog has an illness. Animal shelters could have to kill the animals if they do not have enough money for all the animals. Animals have no voice of their own and are mistreated and killed way more than you would like to think.

Did you know that about 7.6 million companion pets are surrendered to animal shelters every year? It's true, and that is one of the reasons animal shelters don't have a lot of room and might have to kill the animals. Some people have to surrender their pets because of illness, and the shelters need money to take care of the animals. Others might have to surrender their pets because of landlord rules, allergies and moving. People also find injured or sick wild animals and give them to animal shelters.

My next reason is that the animal shelters overflow. When the shelters overflow some animals have to be put to sleep. 1.4 million animals are killed every year because of this.

If you donate money to animal shelters that also run an organization they could be fighting against puppy mills and animal abuse. There are 10,000 puppy mills in the U.S alone. Puppies in puppy mills could be found with swollen paws, bloody patches, paws stuck in wired fences, dehydration, decayed teeth, ear infections, blindness and possibly illnesses. Puppy mills sell these dogs to owners who could possibly be not trustworthy. Puppy mills include malls that sell puppies, if you see puppies in a window at a mall that is a puppy mill. Even though the puppies don't look injured from the window there are most likely cages with sick and mistreated dogs somewhere behind it. 2.11 million puppies are sold from puppy mills in America every year.

Animal abuse is a huge problem. 10 million animals die from abuse every year in just the U.S by itself. 250,000 animals die because of animal hoarding.

As you can see it is very important to donate to animal shelters/animal organizations. You could help save bunches of animal lives. Think of all those animals who could really use your help. That is why I think we should donate to animal shelters/animal organizations.

  1. This is a great blog, just be careful you have some very short paragraphs (a paragraph should be at least 3-4 sentences). Also one of your topic sentences say "My next reason is..." make sure you are specific, for example: "My next reason why I think we should be donating to animals shelters is..."
